- Investigations – I enjoy getting involved in the details of a situation and leaving no stone unturned. When a serious situation occurs, it is essential that your case is built on a thorough and fair investigation that stands up to the scrutiny of unions and possibly a tribunal.
- Disciplinaries and Conduct – I provide clear, precise guidance on managing someone’s conduct, usually presenting you with low, medium or higher risk options. I will attend all meetings with you and can provide HR colleagues to support your Governors with any panel hearings or appeals.
- Absence management – short term, frequent absence or long term absence can be disruptive to a team. I support you in obtaining useful, relevant occupational health guidance and where necessary, specialist medical advice, for example with mental health issues. Ill health retirements or dismissals are sometime necessary, and I have experience in managing both of these processes.
- Grievances and parental complaints – when things go wrong, you want complaints resolved with integrity and efficiency. HR practitioners are moving towards conflict resolution and mediation practices to produce positive outcomes.
- Poor performance and Capability – sometimes members of the team need genuine support to refocus their efforts and improve their performance. Sometimes that doesn’t work, and for the sake of your students, people need move on from their roles. I have extensive experience on both of these processes.
